Since the inception of first Afghan restaurant (Caravan Sarai) in St. Paul, Minnesota (USA) over 40 years ago, Afghan restaurants have emerged throughout the United States, Canada, Australia and Europe, with the highest concentration in Northern California today. Afghan dishes are generally mild to moderately spicy mostly including gourmet rice,  meat and fresh vegetables.  A favorite dish usually have lamb shank.
